JOHNNIE COCHRAN JR. SALUTE TO EXCELLENCE AWARDS……..The Fritz Pollard Alliance Foundation (FPAF) hosted its 12th annual Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. Salute to Excellence Awards at the Kingdom Builder’s Center. The event, hosted by ESPN’s Josina Anderson and Defender sports writer Max Edison, awards individuals who display outstanding performances on the field, in front offices and classrooms across the U.S. Award recipients included Texans’ general manager Rick Smith, and a host of local high school athletes including K’lavon Chaisson and Marvin Wilson. Attendees included NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, commentator Skip Bayless, FPAF officers John Wooten and Harry Carson, NFL legend Doug Williams, Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, and countless NFL Hall of Famers including Willie Lanier, Jackie Slater, Willie Brown, Ken Houston, Mel Blount, Mean Joe Green, Rayfield Wright, Art Shell, and more
