Houston hosted the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s (CBCF) fifth economic summit, “After Hurricane Harvey: Economic Lessons Learned.” CBCF leadership, including Cathy Hughes (Urban One), U.S. Rep Sheila Jackson Lee and A. Shuanise Washington, chose Houston to bring the spotlight back on the city as it continues to deal with post-Harvey issues. Participants were addressed by Mayor Sylvester Turner, Rev. Jesse Jackson, HFD Chief Samuel Pena, Port Arthur Mayor Derrick Freeman, Carlecia Wright, Courtney Johnson Rose, State Rep. Senfronia Thompson and others. Attendees included Roland Martin, Bishop James Dixon, Linda Lorelle, State Senator Borris Miles, Councilmember Amanda Edwards and a host of CBC members from across the country
