Rev. Jesse Jackson served as the keynote speaker for the 2018 HCC Black History Scholarship Gala. Jackson spoke on this year’s gala theme: “The Politics Of.” Now in its 12th year, the HCC Black History Scholarship Gala raises funds for deserving HCC students. This year’s recipients were Janel Blair, Julian Cleare, Tiffany Cook and Brianna Lewis. Attendees included Congressman Al Green, Commissioner Rodney Ellis, State Rep. Ron Reynolds, Dr. Jonita Reynolds, D.A. Kim Ogg, Howard Jefferson, Dr. Carolyn Evans-Shabazz, Malik Shabazz, E. Ashley Smith, Vince Ryan, David Regenbaum, Dr. Jamale Kempt, LaKendra Hill, Dr. Lorlie Ellis, Dr. Margaret Ford Fisher, Raymond Fisher, Ken & Dolores Rodgers and scores more.
