Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. along with the TSU School of Public Affairs and UH Master of Public Administration Program hosted the Involved Citizens of Houston Community Forum. The event’s aim—to educate participants, especially millennials, about their responsibility to be active community voices. Topics covered included Police Interactions & Race/Community Relations, 2017 Voting Updates, Immigration, Healthcare, and more. Panelists included Mayor Sylvester Turner, State Rep. Senfronia Thompson, Asst. Police Chief Henry Gaw and others. Attendees included Radio One’s Dr. J. Thomas Smith (moderator), Marcia Penn, Kim Topps, LaTosha Clayton, Dr. Anthony Rodriguez, Laura Allen, State Rep. Jarvis Johnson, Lisa Brooks, Deshara Gross, Michala Padgett, Mary Benton and many others.
