Mayor Turner’s annual Acres Homes Juneteenth Parade was held recently starting at the Acres Homes Multi Service Center, and featured marching bands, dancing groups, horses, floats, UH football players and vintage cars, as well as several special guests. These included gospel singer Brian Courtney Wilson, the UniverSoul Circus, boxing star Raphael “Trouble” Igbokwe, former Rocket great Clyde the Glide Drexler, Texas governor candidates Beto O’Rourke and Lupe Valdez and more. Others in attendance were HCC Trustee Dr. Carolyn Shabazz Jones, HISD Trustee Jolanda Jones, interim HISD Superintendent Dr. Grenita Lathan, Darius Gilbert, Jalinn Smith, Adrianne Walker, Danny Norris, AJ Dallas, Councilmember Amanda Edwards and more.
