The Hobby Center for The Performing Arts played host to this year’s Mayor’s Jazz Brunch, an event featuring a performance by students from the Summer Jazz Program, a delicious brunch, and a special performance by national recording jazz artist Helen Sung. Though the packed house enjoyed every minute of the festivities, Mayor Sylvester Turner promised even more with next year’s expansion of the event to an entire weekend of appreciating the diversity of jazz in the nation’s most diverse city. Attendees included legendary jazz artist Bubbha Thomas, Donna Franklin and Ernest Walker (KTSU), James Harris, Cindy George, Linda K. Brown, Commissioner Rodney Ellis, Licia Green, Whitney Mercilus (Texans), Councilmembers Martha Castex Tatum & Jerry Davis, Janice Weaver and many more.
