The NAACP Houston 2019 Freedom Fund Dinner, a black-tie affair held at the Hilton Americas Hotel, celebrated advocacy in many forms by some of Houston’s best and brightest. Honorees included U.S. Rep Bennie Thompson (Mickey Leland Humanitarian Award), Belinda Everette (Housing & Eco. Development), Dr. Grenita Lathan (Education Advocate) and more. Honorary chair, Mayor Sylvester Turner, along with Yolanda Smith (NAACP Houston Exec. Director) and the capacity crowd celebrated the event theme, “We the People, Preparing for the Next 100,” throughout the evening.
