The NAACP Houston Branch recently hosted “Let’s Talk Houston,” a dinner conversation panel discussion featuring County Commissioner Rodney Ellis, State Senator Borris Miles and Mayor Sylvester Turner. NAACP Houston Branch president, Dr. James Douglas, served as moderator for the panelists, while the organization’s Executive Director Yolanda Smith facilitated audience questions on topics such as Black business opportunities, HISD, healthcare access and more. The event, held at HCC’s West Loop Campus, was part of the NAACP’s Quarterly Conversation Series. Attendees included National NAACP board member Howard Jefferson, past NAACP Houston president Carolyn Scantlebury, Cary Yates, Judge Zinetta Burney, Theola Pettaway, Mary Benton, Darian Ward, Marlon Smith Ph.D., Queen Ty Ross, Keshia Thomas, and many more.
