Activist Deric Muhammad hosted the SMART’N UP Black Male Summit 2017 at Green House International Church. The summit was specifically designed to address the unique needs of Black males by equipping them with the necessary tools to survive and succeed in America. Though the event targeted Black males 12 and up, participants came representing several age groups. Powerful presentations, including one my Mayor Sylvester Turner, and mentor pairings were just part of the day’s activities. Attendees included Pastor E.A. Deckard, Reginald OG1 Gordon, Shelby Stewart, Jesse Muhammad, Queen Ty Ross, Yolanda Moore, Dr. Chris Spellmon, Mark Calvin Sr., Mark Calvin Jr., and more.
