The Blacklist Association in conjunction with the For Colored Girls Exhibit at the Houston Museum of African American Culture recently hosted a Women’s History Month discussion that touched on topics like Black femininity, political engagement, economics and spirituality. Moderator Suraiye Myles and event coordinators Aaron Brown, Ore’oluwa Akinbode, Atum Ra and Fred Bryant teamed with artist and HMAAC Assistant Curator Dominic Clay to pair the discussion with the HMAAC’s exhibit celebrating Ntosake Shange’s famous work. HMAAC CEO John Guess greeted attendees at the event that also spotlighted artist Elizabeth Montgomery Shelton who was on hand along with legendary artists Charles Criner, Brilliance Jones, Keneisha Terrell, Jeanine Bryant, and many others
