Rev. William “Bill” Lawson, Founding Pastor Emeritus of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, is the first to be interviewed in a new DefenderNetwork quarterly series entitled “ONE-on-ONE. ” Known as a Houston icon, Rev. Lawson talks about a number of topics including: Civil Rights Today, Black Males and Police Brutality, Do We Need a Modern Day MLK?, Donald Trump, Why are Young People Leaving the Church?, His New Mission in Life and more. The interview conducted by Defender CEO Sonceria “Sonny” Messiah Jiles allows Rev. Lawson to reflect the knowledge of his 89 years and share his wisdom with young and old.

The Houston community and others are invited to post their memories and experiences with Rev. Lawson on facebook/defendernetwork allowing others to know the power and depth of his influence and service.
