Big news for H-Town! Our city just scored another major win in the energy sector. Chevron, one of the biggest oil companies out there, is packing up its California digs and moving its headquarters to Houston.

Now, don’t expect to see a flood of Californians on I-10 just yet. They’re saying everything will take about five years to shift over. But get this – their big boss, Chairman and CEO Mike Wirth, and his right-hand man, Vice Chairman Mark Nelson, will move to Houston before 2024 comes to an end. Looks like they want to be closer to where the action is, you know?

Of course, they’re not completely abandoning the Golden State. Some folks will stay back in San Ramon to keep things running smoothly out there. But let’s be real, we’ve already got 7,000 Chevron employees calling Houston home, compared to their measly 2,000 in California. This move just makes sense, if you ask me.

They’re shaking things up in the boardroom too, with some big names stepping down. One of ’em, Nigel Hearne, is hanging up his hat after 35 years with the company. Talk about dedication!

We’re already the energy capital of the world, and this move by Chevron just cements that status. Looks like we’d better start prepping for some new neighbors. Maybe we should send ’em a welcome basket with some Blue Bell and Whataburger coupons?
