Fort Bend’s small business workshop sees huge turnout

Fort Bend ISD’s Small Business Enterprise Program had a great turn out for its workshop on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, with 120 small business owners, contractors and subcontractors in attendance.

The Small Business Enterprise Program was adopted by the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees following voter approval of the $484 million bond program. The program, which is for construction projects that are $50,000 or greater, requires prime contractors to use “Good Faith Efforts” to hire certified small businesses as subcontractors.

The monthly meetings started in January 2016 and give the opportunity for attendees to network, learn more about the upcoming projects of the 2014 Bond Program, talk to financial representatives from local banks and more.

There will be no workshops in November and December due to the holidays. They will resume on January 25, 2017 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the FBISD Triplex, located at 550 Julie Rivers, Sugar Land, 77478. The workshop will cover a number of agenda items, including Phase 3 of the upcoming projects of the 2014 Bond Program.
