Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee released the following statement today announcing that the National Eye Institute of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a grant in the amount of $378,333 to the University of Houston to fund ongoing vision research in the field of Optically Induced Anisometropia:
“I am pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the University Houston a grant in the amount of $378,333 to further its important vision research in the field of optically induced anisometropia. In addition, the grant will enable the University of Houston to fund professional development activities intended to improve research for students studying at the National Eye Institute and to assist them in meeting high professional standards.
“I commend the University of Houston for the work it does to provide quality educational opportunities to its students and congratulate it for winning such a prestigious grant. I am proud to have supported the authorizing and appropriations legislation that made this grant possible.”
