The Republican Party banks on an electorate that is dumb as rocks in order to win elections.
Basically, the GOP is a wealth transfer racket, that’s all about doing a reverse Robin Hood—stealing from the poor to give to the rich. Yet, they sell themselves and their policies as being for the working class, the “real” Americans, the salt-of-the-earth, hard-working, law-abiding, upright Christian folk.
The disease: Scapegoating to steal
The GOP simultaneously positions itself as the only thing (protection) standing between its white nationalist majority and their enemies (Blackfolk, immigrants, women, intellectuals, LGBTQ, etc.). And it’s these “enemies” that Republicans and their tech-bro-controlled social media, and gazillionaire-run local and cable news networks paint as the cause of all of America’s problems.
The GOP utilizes fear tactics and scapegoating to do this. The crazy thing is, it’s the GOP itself and its anti-democracy, anti-working-class, anti-middle class, anti-worker, anti-Black, anti-Brown, anti-children, anti-family, anti-women, anti-science, anti-Christian, anti-humanity BS policies that are the cause of their own voters’ issues and problems.
The antidote: Ignorance
Hence, Republicans bet their success on the belief that the American people as a whole, and especially the white folk who keep voting for them, are as dumb, racist, hate-filled, fearful, and stupid as all get-out. And if so, their faithful voters will keep falling for the GOP okey-doke…. i.e., the banana in the tailpipe.
This is nothing new. The wealthy white class has banked on this stupidity for hundreds of years. They have a long history of always pulling out the Race Card (or Racist Card), knowing that it’s enough to convince their dumbass voters to keep voting for politicians and policies that don’t give a goddamn about their own white constituents. Yet, they continue to vote for them.
Again, the GOP has always banked on Americans being ignorant as “all-dah-be-damned.” And they continue to be proven right. Trump literally said he loves stupid people.
Currently, they are banking on the same ignorance that is plain as day.
Stupidity roll call
Though Republicans in Texas control the Texas House, Texas Senate, Texas Supreme Court, and the Texas Governor’s Mansion, their political ads focus on stopping out-of-control government spending and other problems they themselves created. In other words, they’re running against themselves (horrible realities they facilitated), but knowing all they have to do to keep their voters is blame everything on “The Blacks,” them “mescan” immigrants, or woke trans lovers.
Though Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton has a rap sheet longer than the Great Wall of China, has been charged with multiple felonies, has cheated on his wife, was impeached by his own Texas GOP colleagues for his rampant corruption, and has released from jail child predators who donated to his campaign, his ads show him as someone who stands for protecting children, family values, and law & order. And Republican voters eat it up.
The GOP in Texas and nationally have stonewalled the investigation into the global child predator ring outlined in the Epstein Files, with President Donald Trump listed in those files more times than Jesus is mentioned in the Bible. Yet, they run campaigns as the “authorities” on Christian values.
You can’t make this stuff up.
Though the GOP has hundreds, if not thousands, of candidates, across the country with direct, known ties to white nationalist hate groups, they tout messages saying racism no longer exists. They also say Blackfolk who call out racism are the real racists.
The GOP controls the U.S. House, U.S. Senate, U.S. Presidency, and the SCOTUS, and their failed policies have wrecked the economy and America’s standing globally. Yet, they blame their own GOP failures on the “woke” Left and socialists and Democrats that they swear want to force children to have sex change operations, even using AI to show Democratic opponents making these bogus claims. And again, their voters fall for it hook, line, and sinker.
Same-o-same
The GOP has always put its money down, betting on the stupidity, fear, and racism of white Americans, and the desire of some people of color to cozy up to whiteness and support anti-Black, anti-Brown, anti-Asian policies. And more often than not, they’ve won that bet. Oh yeah, and they’re betting on Black people being too tired with the system as is to even vote.
The Democrats, however, bet on the American electorate being educated, informed, and voting according to what makes sense, and what they believe is obvious. The Dems direct their messages at common sense, and rational thinking, even though research shows that what moves the voting needle is what speaks to the heart. And the GOP have mastered that art—of speaking to the heart of fear, ignorance, racism, and stupidity.
America and Americans
And the GOP keeps kicking the Dems’ asses in elections because maybe they’re right. Most people in this country know little to nothing about white history, and far, far less about Black history. So, again, Republicans must be right. The American electorate must ride in that small school bus to the polls. Either that, or their racist gene is so strong, overpowering, and seductive that they constantly vote against their own interests. Or, their primary interest is anti-Blackness, which is still stupid, seeing that we blessed this planet with religion, art, science, and civilization–and any policies that improve Black life have been proven to make life better for everyone.
I’d love to say, “Voters, let’s prove the GOP wrong. Let’s go out and vote with intelligence and humanity, with love for self and neighbor. Let’s vote against policies that support screwing everybody except for the 1% of the 1%. Let’s vote for women’s rights. Let’s vote for educational funding and freedoms. Let’s vote to end the current police state. Let’s vote to end the Ponzi scheme, wealth transfer system, and global right-wing movement that seeks to make convicts of us all.
“Voters, let’s prove these greedy, soulless jerks wrong.”
But sadly, I’m not willing to bet on it.
