The Houston Medical Forum, an organization of African-American physicians united to address the medical needs of Black people, hosted “A Night Among the Stars,” it’s 28th Annual Scholarship Gala. Dr. Garvin Davis, president of the 91-year-old organization, along with event co-chairs Dr. Shiree Berry and Dr. Carolyn Ross Riley, welcomed those present to honor Dr. Wanda Thornton Mott (Lifetime Achievement Award) and Dr. Kevin McKinney (Physician of the Year), as well as medical school scholarship recipients Yakira Alford, Chinormso Diribe, Suzette Ikejiani and Alexis Milton. Attendees included U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Mayor Sylvester Turner, Emma Chambers, emcees Melanie Lawson (ABC13) and Khambrel Marshall (KPRC 2) and many more.
