Local activist Deric Muhammad recently hosted the Smart’n Up Black Male Summit, an event designed to address the unique needs of Black males in the greater Houston area (ages 13 and older). This year’s summit, held at the Shrine of the Black Madonna Cultural & Events Center, included workshops, motivational speakers, interactive presentations and a panel discussion featuring Dr. Abdul Muhammad and William Willie D Dennis (Geto Boys), addressing critical issues needed for participants to succeed in life.
