The man who invaded the home of popular Houston rapper Bun B and held his wife, Queenie, at gun point during a robbery in 2019 was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Demonte Alif Jackson had pleaded guilty in December 2019 to charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and burglary with intent to commit felony.
The terrifying incident occurred in April 2019 when Jackson, wearing a mask, rang the doorbell pretending to be a delivery person. When Queenie answered, he forced his way inside at gunpoint demanding money and valuables.
Upstairs at the time, Bun B grabbed his pistol and went to confront the armed robber in the garage.
In an emotional testimony during the sentencing hearing, Bun B recounted the harrowing details. He said Queenie told him “Don’t come downstairs. He’s going to kill me.”
Jackson then made his way to the garage and tried stealing one of their vehicles. That’s when Bun B opened fire, shooting Jackson in the shoulder as he fell out of the car.
A physical struggle ensued before Jackson managed to flee on foot. Bun B caught up to him on the highway, ordered him to unmask himself, and then let him go while calling the police.
The next day, the famed rapper from UGK identified Jackson at a local hospital, leading to his arrest.
Bun B emotionally recounted during the trial specific details he and his wife experienced the night of the break-in. He remembers his wife answering their door, thinking that she was picking up a package from an Amazon delivery driver.
Instead, she was greeted by a masked robber, who was later identified as Jackson.
When he realized that his wife was being held at gunpoint, Bun said that he grabbed his gun and was going to go downstairs to confront the robber until he heard his wife say, โDonโt come downstairs. Heโs going to kill me.โ
Eventually, Jackson made his way to their garage and got in one of their cars. This is when Bun B started to fire multiple shots at the robber, with one hitting him in the shoulder, which led him to fall out of the vehicle. The two began fighting on the floor before Jackson managed to escape.
