Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson announces an exciting new community program called Make it Right! This program will be hosted by Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Additional county participants will include the Harris County Public Defender’s Office and Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 7. If citizens have outstanding Class C warrants or other pending charges in Harris County Precinct 7, this one-day event will provide a unique opportunity to clear them up in a favorable environment, without having to go to court- for free.
The event will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30p.m., at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, located at 3015 N. MacGregor Way, Houston, TX 77004.
This program is designed to help members of our community who have unresolved warrants for low-level, nonviolent misdemeanor offenses. The goal is to provide these individuals with an opportunity to “make things right” for themselves by getting their outstanding warrants removed and their pending cases resolved in a non-traditional and non-confrontational manner, with NO immediate financial cost and NO risk of arrest.
For those that qualify for the program, we will offer bilingual classes on-site to provide citizens the opportunity to clear up their warrants. Participants will also have the opportunity to receive free legal advice from volunteer defense lawyers (including landlord/tenant issues, immigration, child support, civil rights, etc), attend a career resource fair with job training, learn about educational opportunities as well as partake in several local food truck vendors.
