Fort Bend ISD’s Board of Trustees recently held a “Listening Tour” event at Travis High School to provide parents, employees and community members an opportunity to talk one-on-one with board members. This was the final event in a four-stop tour that took place throughout the District during the 2016-17 school year.

Members of the audience were able to write down their questions and take them to roundtables in order to have them answered by Board members and members of the District’s Executive Leadership Team. Questions that were asked and answered during the roundtable discussions will soon be posted to the District website, www.fortbendisd.com.

Student groups from some of the Travis High School feeder pattern schools participated in the event. Members of the Travis Belles Dance Team greeted parents and community members as they entered the campus while the Sartartia Symphony Orchestra and the James Bowie Middle School Symphony Orchestra performed. Immediately following the event was a Board workshop, where the Travis Marine JROTC performed the Presentation of Colors, the Travis High School Varsity Chorale sang the National Anthem, and fifth grade student council officers from Pecan Grove Elementary led the audience in the Pledges of Allegiance. Artwork by students from the various feeder schools was also on display.
