County Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ held an unveiling ceremony for the Sacred Struggles/Vibrant Justice Mural that Precinct One installed on the Third Ward church along the Columbia Tap trail. The mural, adorned with images of eight Houston civil and voting rights heroes past and present: Rev. John D. Moore, Christia Adair, Heman Sweatt, Hattie Mae White, Rev. William Lawson, Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, Congressman Mickey Leland and the Honorable Ada Edwards. Attendees included Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Congressman Al Green, artist Reginald Adams, Pastor A. Keith Edwards, Nanette Edwards, Licia Green-Ellis, Melanie Lawson, Jacqueline Bostic, Councilmember Amanda Edwards and many others.
