Fleming Elementary students certainly know how to raise money for a good cause. The entire school joined the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Pennies For Patients” campaign. Each grade level and class competed to see who could raise the most money by collecting pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. The winning class was Ms. Kimberly Valera’s kindergarten class – they raised $1,130.76, and will be treated to a pasta party sponsored by Olive Garden.

On Wednesday, May 17, a representative from the Leukemia & Lymphoma society came out to award the students with gold, silver, and bronze pennants, as well as to reveal the grand total raised by the entire school. Fleming students did an outstanding job by raising $6,134.84. The entire school celebrated by having a balloon release in the back of the school that afternoon. You can see a video of that on our Facebook page.
